We've arrived safely in Bangkok, Thailand. Right now, it's 1:35AM Thailand time. (3:35AM Japan time!)
It was a long day. Train ride to Narita Airport was quite interesting to say the least. The ticket lady didn't think we had enough time to make the 12:40 train, and issued us tickets for 1:10. But we made it to the platform by 12:40 and decided to hop on. We didn't think that there would be a controller, but of course, one appeared and checked our tickts. He didn't notice that the time was different, but did notice that we were not in our "assigned seats". So basically, we had to sneak onto different seats and hope nobody checked out tickets again, which they didn't.
We just had dinner in the hotel. I ordered a Thai curry:
The wife orderred a Thai appetizer sampler:
Just finished $11 foot massages. Totally needed them, after all those hours of walking in Tokyo. The workers have to work till 2AM!
Tomorrow, we'll hit the world's biggest weekend market, Chatuchat. There should be some good photo ops there.
Finally, some last thoughts on Japan:
1. It's not as expensive as you think! Dinners cost less than in Vancouver.
2. It's a very clean city, despite not have many garbages.
3. People are very well dressed. Men pluck their eyebrows :).
4. People are very polite. Even those trying to sell you stuff on the street.
5. You don't need to tip. That saves mucho dinero.
6. Despite the very sunny weather, 95% of Japanese people do NOT wear sunglasses.
7. Starbucks is cheaper than Vancouver, while Chuck Taylors ($74) and Ipods cost more.
btw, when is Sundin going to sign??
