Singapore - Day 6 - Clarke Quay + Orchard Road + Other side of family

With its steep fines for littering, Singapore really is virtually litter-free.

Here's the duck picture that I couldn't take yesterday.

This is the view from Clarke Quay, five blocks of restored warehouses, which offers a quirky alternative to mainstream attractions, with second-hand and antique shops and lots of restaurants, lounges and even the famous 40 000 sq. foot club MINISTRY OF SOUND. It's too bad we couldn't come here at night.

And, of course, quelques plats du jour:
Some tofu salad with peanuts and cucumber and papaya

Red Ruby, water chestnuts with tapioca and coconut milk over ice

It was a bit cloudy today, but here is the Singapore Flyer, the world's largest observation wheel, at 165 meters in height (actually taller than Yokohama's ferris wheel, standing at 113 meters!) I guess since we weren't that close to it, it didn't seem too impressive.
We finally made it to Wisma, a(nother) shopping center on Orchard Road, where we craved their food from two years ago, including ROJAK, a unique delicious fruit and vegetable salad dish that would be impossible to make back at home with all the ingredients.
Here is the wife at a scrapbooking store (a lot of their prices were three times those in the states, but apparently they had a lot of the newest items)

Here's me eating Durian, aka the King of Fruits. I'm not too sure many of my non-asian friends would like the distinctively bad smell of it. This fruit will stink up your entire house if you serve it there.
Here's the other side of the family (the wife's mom's side)

Tomorrow, we're going to Malaysia (just for the day). Sounds like the culture will be vastly different from Singapore...it's about a 2.5 hour drive...our last full day in Asia!
